COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The Ohio Parole Board recently recommended a reduced sentence for a death row inmate who has been in prison for more than 30 years for the murder of an elderly couple that he maintains he did not commit.
On Aug. 25, the board advised Gov. Mike DeWine to commute the death sentence of Tyrone Noling, 54, of Alliance, to life in prison with the possibility of parole beginning on Jan. 1, 2029. Of the eight-person board, five voted for the commutation, one recommended a full pardon and two voted against any relief.
The board’s recommendation came after Noling requested a full pardon at an Aug. 18 clemency hearing.
