Carter, Sampson Know What Texas Tech’s Offense Must Fix

Texas Tech tight end and left tackle met with the media on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s homecoming matchup with Arizona State. The pair discussed how they spent the bye week, what they’ve seen from the Sun Devils and Sampson’s leadership, among other topics.

Making the most of the bye week

With the Red Raiders off this past weekend, both players used the time to watch film, and Sampson went hunting.

Howard Sampson: “Watched film, studied Arizona State, and spent time in the training room getting my body right. Outside the building, I hunted to clear my mind. That was about it.”

Terrance Carter: “Pretty much like Howard said. Just watched film, tried to study the opponent, and honestly, being in the training room getting my body right.”

The bye also gave them a chance to refocus on the remaining regular season matchups.

Terrance Carter: “Honestly, I think it was perfect timing, especially for me. Not talking selfishly, but with the injuries I’ve been going through, it was about getting prepared and trying to get back to 100% as quick as possible.”

Howard Sampson: “Kind of what TC said. It was definitely needed. Anytime you get some time off and get your body ready, it helps. I think it was needed, and we definitely took advantage of it.”

Is Arizona State circled?

Asked whether this one has been circled as a revenge game, Carter said it’s only circled because it’s the next opponent. Sampson echoed the same.

Terrance Carter: “I wouldn’t say it’s circled. If it’s circled, it’s just because it’s the next opponent we have. They’re a really good team, and we have to go out there and execute plays the way we know how, and honestly, just get this team rolling.”…
