(WJW) – Northeast Ohio’s lakes and reservoirs are offering strong summer fishing opportunities for bass, crappie, catfish and saugeye, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

They’re highlighting several spots in the area:
- In Medina County, Chippewa Lake is reporting saugeye up to 26 inches, with annual stocking of about 34,000 fingerlings. The daily limit is six fish of any size.
- In Summit County, Mogadore Reservoir is seeing strong growth rates in its channel catfish population, with fish reaching an average of 21 inches by age 7.
- In Carroll County, Leesville Lake is highlighted for its largemouth bass fishing
- Trumbull County’s Mosquito Creek Lake is a good spot for crappie fishing.
Fishing licenses for Ohio residents cost $25 per year. It’s free for anyone under 16.
