Strong winds threaten more outages; thousands without power

(WJW) – Thousands of FirstEnergy customers are without power Thursday, and more outages are possible throughout the day.

According to FirstEnergy’s outage map, about 4,700 customers were affected by power outages as of 4 a.m. Thursday. The largest concentrations of outages were reported in Cuyahoga, Lake, Summit and Portage counties.

The outages come as a Wind Advisory remains in effect for parts of Northeast Ohio through 6 p.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service is forecasting southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph.
