Uniontown Lions Club donates to Hartville Migrant Center

The Hartville Migrant Center has been serving local migrant workers since the 1950s. It became a nonprofit organization in 1962 and is the oldest free clinic in Ohio.

In 2024, local farming practices changed when the area’s largest grower decided not to bring back more than 250 migrant workers. With only about 50 migrant workers remaining in the immediate area, the Hartville Migrant Center Board of Directors expanded the clinic’s mission to provide medical care to uninsured migrants and immigrants.

The Hartville Migrant Center’s mission is to serve the needs of migrants and immigrants through Christian ministry. The organization works with other agencies to assist migrants and immigrants, encourages a sense of worth and community belonging, and promotes awareness of cultural diversity.
