CLEVELAND, Ohio — Growing up in Solon, Robb Sapp dreamed of a career in musical theater. As a teenager, he would see shows at Playhouse Square and wait at the stage door afterward, hoping to meet the actors and wondering if he’d ever perform there.
Finally, after two decades of grinding, Sapp made it happen. He was the standby for three roles in Disney’s “The Lion King” when the touring production rolled through Cleveland in 2019.
The show returns to the KeyBank State Theatre for a six-week run starting July 8. Sapp will be there, again, this time as a member of the principal cast as Ed the hyena…
