Heat wave continues: Air quality alert issued amid high heat, wildfire smoke

(WJW) — A Heat Advisory is in effect on Tuesday, July 14, until 8 p.m. for Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa and Sandusky counties.

On Wednesday, July 15, a Heat Advisory will be in effect for Ashland, Carroll, Coshocton, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Holmes, Huron, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Sandusky, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties from noon until 8 p.m.

An Air Quality Advisory has been issued for multiple counties from midnight Tuesday night through midnight Wednesday night. Impacted counties include:

Another heat wave this week as high heat and humidity will combine to give us a heat index (value of what it feels like to the human body) of 95-105 degrees tomorrow, so another heat advisory will be in effect for Wednesday.

In addition to high heat and humidity on Wednesday, our air will be invaded by wildfire smoke from Ontario, Canada. Both of these factors combined will prompt an Air Quality Alert for poorer air. If you are elderly, the very young and those with breathing sensitivity then it is not advised for you to be outdoors. The wildfire smoke from Canada will impact our air quality for much of mid-late week. You may see a haze to the air and vibrant sunrises/sunsets.
