CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) – A Stark County man accused of breaking into multiple businesses, cracking open safes, and stealing more than $10,000 is now in custody.
According to court records, Patrick Hoover, 49, of Strasburg, was arrested July 14. Criminal complaints filed in Stark County Court say five businesses were targeted between mid-June and early July.
Court documents outline several alleged incidents:
- June 18: Hoover is accused of breaking into The New Deal in Tuscarawas Township, cracking a safe, and stealing about $4,000.
- June 23: In East Canton, Rae’s Diner was reportedly broken into. Three cash drawers and a safety deposit box were stolen, totaling about $1,200.
- June 26: Hoover is accused of attempting to break into AMVETS Post 124 in Canton Township, but was unsuccessful.
- June 26: Also that day, Hoover allegedly broke into the Red Dog Saloon in the Village of Bethlehem, cracked open a safe, and stole about $5,474.
- July 1: Hoover is accused of breaking into Canton’s Neighborhood Laundromat and prying coin machines off the walls. It’s unclear how much money was inside.
A warrant was issued for Hoover’s arrest on July 8. He was taken into custody on July 14 and booked into the Stark County Jail…
