Akron issues precautionary boil order for 10K customers after water main break

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – The city of Akron issued a precautionary boil order for the city’s west side after a water main break early Friday morning.

According to a release, at around 3 a.m., a water main break occurred on a 12-inch main on Superior Avenue and Leonard Street.

The city said that the break caused the elevated tank on Sherbondy Hill to drop to levels that reduced water pressure for many customers.

Water pressure has been restored, but Akron Water is issuing a precautionary boil water advisory out of an abundance of caution, the release said.

This order impacts about 10,000 customers on the west side…
