Akron Children’s adds crisis unit to meet growing need

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Children’s Hospital is meeting the need for crisis stabilization units by adding 20 inpatient behavioral health units.

“The new unit will not only expand Akron Children’s capacity for inpatient behavioral healthcare, it will reshape how that care is delivered,” said Dr. Eva Szigethy, the Lois C. Orr Endowed Chair in Pediatric Psychiatry at Akron Children’s.

The extra rooms are on the eighth floor of the main hospital building and the fifth floor of Akron Children’s Kay Jewelers Pavilion…
