RAVENNA − A Minerva man’s trial on charges he killed two elderly Portage County men in a crash began with the prosecution contending the man was weaving while under the influence of drugs.
The defense claimed Aug. 25 in Portage County Common Pleas Court that 44-year-old Matthew C. Simms was not the at-fault driver.
Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Simms was driving a southbound 2009 Lincoln MKS when it collided head-on with a northbound 2015 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 80-year-old Rootstown resident David G.
