New report shows tourism continues to fuel Summit County’s economy – West Side

AKRON — Tourism continues to play an integral role in Summit County’s economy, generating billions in visitor spending, supporting thousands of jobs and strengthening local businesses across the community, according to the latest economic impact report released by TourismOhio.

The Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau (ASCVB) partnered with TourismOhio and Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics company, to analyze the latest visitor spending and tourism impact data.

“Tourism is an investment in Summit County. Every visitor who comes here creates a ripple effect that supports our entire hospitality ecosystem, from hotels, restaurants and attractions to retailers, event venues, transportation providers and countless local businesses,” said Gregg Mervis, president and CEO of the ASCVB. “Together, these partners create the experiences that inspire people to visit, while generating jobs, tax revenue and economic opportunity that benefit our entire community.”…
