Barberton City Schools could run out of cash by December, seeking fiscal emergency status

BARBERTON, Ohio — Barberton City Schools is asking the state to place the district in fiscal emergency as it faces severe financial problems and the possibility of running out of cash by December.

Superintendent Jason Ondrus says the Barberton Board of Education has approved a resolution requesting the designation, which is the most severe level of fiscal distress for an Ohio school district.
