The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is joining Feeding America food banks nationwide during September for Hunger Action Month, an effort to raise awareness and encourage action against hunger.
According to the Foodbank, one in seven people and one in five children in its service area may struggle with hunger. The organization said rising costs for groceries, energy and other necessities continue to strain household budgets.
“Every day, we see the difference our community can make when people come together to support their neighbors,” said Dan Flowers, Foodbank president and CEO. “Hunger Action Month is an opportunity for all of us to take that next step.
