Northeast Ohio schools close again due to excessive heat

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Several schools across Northeast Ohio are closed Thursday, according to the FOX 8 school closings list.

The closures include schools in Cuyahoga, Portage, Wayne, Summit and Stark counties.

The following schools are listed as closed Thursday:

  • LEAP Program-Garfield Heights — Cuyahoga County
  • LEAP Program-Kent — Portage County
  • LEAP Program-Rittman — Wayne County
  • North Intermediate Elementary — Summit County
  • Norton Elementary — Summit County
  • Norton Middle — Summit County
  • SUPER Learning Center — Summit County
  • Wings Academy — Cuyahoga County

Norton City Schools said Norton Elementary and Norton Middle School are closed Thursday because of excessive heat. The district’s masonry program is also closed, while Norton High School remains open.

The reasons for the other school closures were not immediately available, but a Heat Advisory is in effect Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
