A 68-year-old Summit County man with memory and health issues walked away from a Walmart around noon Friday, prompting Ohio’s Attorney General to issue a missing endangered adult alert. The Ohio Attorney General’s Office later canceled the alert after it had been active for about 45 minutes.
According to Cleveland 19 News, Nelson was reported missing after walking away from a Walmart. The report did not include physical or clothing details.
The Walmart was the location from which Nelson walked away. That case is separate from Hoodline’s coverage of a criminal case.
How Ohio’s Missing Adult Alert System Works
The alert for Nelson was issued under Ohio’s Endangered Missing Adult Alert criteria, which allow law enforcement to trigger an alert once they confirm a person is missing, is either 65 or older or has a mental impairment or developmental disability, faces a credible threat of immediate serious harm or death, and enough descriptive detail exists to aid the search, per Ohio Laws.
