CLEVELAND (WJW) – It has been 25 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, when nearly 3,000 people were killed when planes flew into the World Trade Center in New York City and crashed into the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania.
The attacks have left a lasting mark on the American people, and Northeast Ohio communities are remembering all of the lives lost with several memorial events this Friday.
Akron
The 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, hosted by the Safety Forces Support Center, will be held at The University of Akron’s InfoCision Stadium on 6 p.m. Organizers said participants will climb the equivalent of 110 stories (the height of the twin towers) to honor the lives lost.
Ashland
Hundreds of students from Ashland University will be placing 2,996 American flags on the campus lawn, honoring every life lost in the 9/11 attacks…
