Ohio State pulls off 49-yard Hail Mary TD pass on final play of 1st half

Ohio State was having no trouble taking out its frustrations on poor Kent State on Saturday afternoon in Columbus, and then things really got good for the 6th-ranked Buckeyes.

Still seething from that blown lead last Saturday night at Texas, Ohio State aimed to bounce back in a big way in Week 3 and was doing just that late in the 1st half with a 28-0 lead over the overmatched Golden Flashes from the MAC. That 4-touchdown spread would’ve been just fine for the Buckeyes to jog into the locker room with, but then they got greedy.

On the final play of the 1st half, with the ball at the Kent State 49-yard line and 3 seconds to play with, Ryan Day decided to give it a whirl and try a Hail Mary pass. There was a low-risk, high-reward factor, so why not try for 1 more play and see if the Hail Mary could work?…
