CANTON ‒ A firefighter suffered minor injuries fighting a fire early Wednesday in a commercial building at 2011 Allen Ave. SE, the city fire department said in a statement.
Crews were called at 2:31 a.m. to the structure that houses several storage units with office spaces.
When they arrived seven minutes later, they were met by light smoke. But when they entered the building, fire began to spread among pallets of merchandise. The crews extinguished the flames and limited the damage to the business where the fire started, Division Chief Steve Henderson said in a press release.
The cause remains under investigation. The estimated value of the loss to the structure is $12,000, and to the contents, $20,000.
