Suburban man sentenced to 12 years for home burglaries in Crystal Lake, Woodstock

MCHENRY, Ill. — A 61-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for several burglaries in the Far Northwest Suburbs last year.

Scott Weissert, of Lakemore, was sentenced to 12 years for three charges of Residential Burglary and one count of Resisting an Officer Causing Injury on Tuesday, according to the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Using home surveillance cameras, investigators determined Weissert as a suspect in the burglaries and was later arrested. He allegedly burgled several homes in the Crystal Lake and Woodstock area in the spring of 2023.

While being placed under arrest, Weissert allegedly struggled with the police and injured one of the arresting officers.

Weissert pled guilty to each of the charges. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Tuesday.
