I Promise School and the LeBron James Family Foundation leaders are hoping to turn a new leaf with Akron Public Schools and its board of education after a tumultuous year in 2023.
LeBron James Family Foundation Executive Director Michele Campbell reaffirmed her support of the school district during a breakfast and public meeting Monday morning at House Three Thirty in the hopes of putting previous tensions behind them.

“It’s important that we introduce ourselves to the new school board members after an election and show our support for the board,” Campbell said after the meeting.
Superintendent Michael Robinson echoed these comments, hoping to move beyond the criticisms and questions regarding the performance of students at the I Promise School, a partnership between Akron Public Schools and the foundation.
“We want to be as supportive as possible,” Robinson said. “Those are our kids, yours and ours.”
