AKRON , Ohio (WJW) — By one count, there are as many as 850 homeless residents of Summit County on any given day.
Georgann Mirgliotta has worked with them for nearly 10 years, helping to provide meals, hand warmers, hygiene products and more.
“They feel hopeless, like they don’t know what to do next — how to get from point A to point B, sometimes,” said Mirgliotta.
“Given bad weather, conditions of feeling just overlooked, left out, uncared for. That gives them the sense of hopelessness.”

On Wednesday, despite the wintry conditions, FOX 8 News found homeless people sleeping in tent communities deep in a wooded area of Akron.
Through her mission, called Hope Farm , Mirgliotta has had a vision to build a community of tiny homes to help get them out of the elements.
“I see a sense of community, I see a sense of safety and love. They are loved and they are able to lock their belongings and they are able to relax,” said Mirgliotta.
