A Ravenna man has pleaded guilty in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Ravenna.
Abdul Khabeer Abdus-Shakoor, 54, pleaded guilty Monday in Portage County Common Pleas Court to a single count of felony kidnapping. Sentencing is pending completion of a pre-sentencing investigation by the court.
Cases against two Ravenna women implicated in the case − Deolia A. Day, 58, and Karen S. Gibbons, 62 − are still pending. According to court records, Day is also known as Deolia A. Perry, while Abdus-Shakoor is formerly known as Calvin Lamont Coleman.
According to a Ravenna police report, the 53-year-old victim reported Oct. 24 that she had been with the three defendants at Day and Abdus-Shakoor’s Cedar Avenue apartment on Oct. 23.
Day reportedly claimed the woman stole $200 from her purse, and Day and Abdus-Shakoor searched the woman’s car, causing extensive damage.
The money was not found, and Day and Gibbons reportedly took the woman into the apartment’s bathroom, while Abdus-Shakoor stood outside, and had her remove all of her clothing. Then, while Gibbons allegedly held the woman’s arms down and covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming, Day searched the woman, using a bread bag provided by Abdus-Shakoor on her hand.
