Deadly I-77 shooting: 3rd suspect arrested

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – A Texas man has been arrested in connection with a deadly August shooting on I-77 in Summit County.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that suspect Giovanni Porter, 23, had been arrested.

A warrant for his arrest was issued last week.

Porter is the third suspect arrested in the case.

Marquise Banks, 23, was killed while driving on I-77 on August 3 rd when several rounds were fired into his car.

Sirvonte Russel Suggs , 18, and Ahmere Dretwan Morris Williams, 20, both of Akron, were both indicted on counts of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault, court records show, in connection to the case. Suggs also faces additional firearms charges.

Each is being held on a $1 million bond and is due back in court on Feb. 20, court records show.

Porter was also wanted on a murder charge. Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute.
