Local officer nearly killed in line of duty shares his survivor story

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (WJW) – For the first time, a veteran investigator is talking about the night he nearly lost his life on duty, and he’s describing his incredible story of survival.

Last July, Arvin Clar was working as a deputy with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office directing traffic for a concert at Blossom Music Center. Suddenly, he ended up struck by a vehicle and critically hurt.

“Bumper hit me, I fell under the tires,” Arvin told the FOX 8 I-Team. “As I was moving, his trailer grabbed me and crushed my pelvis and my chest. And then, my head hit the concrete. I remember that I am suddenly looking at the hood of a 450 Chevy.”

Now, six months later, Arvin is sharing his story of survival against the odds with the I-Team. His fight to recover.

“Every day, I thank God. Every day,” Arvin said, as tears ran down his face. He told us, how thankful he is for everyone with a hand in saving his life, praying for him and offering support.
