AKRON , Ohio — Friday was a dress-down day at St. Vincent St. Mary High School, where students and staff eagerly gave a donation of $2 each to do so, many of them wearing pink.
The school showing support for one of their own, senior cheerleader Alex Palmer.

“She just had pain in her foot kind of towards the begining of the cheer season so the begining of the school year, it was always kind of uncomfortable for her but she never had it looked at until she had gotten the boot on,” said fellow cheerleader Georgia Deitrick.
Alex would be diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, known as Ewing Sarcoma.
“It was pretty devastating. I think at first it was kind of hard to believe. When it came back cancerous we are like oh its fine they will just remove it and then it metastized to her lung and that’s when it became really real to us,” said Ava Heiser, Alex’s best friend.
Friends of her family have started a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical bils.
