Missing teen leads police on high-speed chases

PORTAGE COUNTY , Ohio (WJW) – A missing teen reported out of Wo o ster appears to have led police on a series of high-speed chases over the weekend.

According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was in the City of Kent on Sunday when a vehicle that had been reported stolen the night before was spotted. The deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over in the area of Water and Main Street, but the driver did not stop.

The deputy chased the stolen vehicle through the City of Kent and into Franklin Township . The chase was called off “due to excessive speeds of the stolen vehicle,” said police in a release.

A short time later, an anonymous tip reported that the stolen vehicle was in the area of Main Street in Ravenna . A deputy spotted the stolen vehicle and reported the driver, again, sped off at a high rate of speed and ran through a stop sign. Officials said the deputy attempted to pull over the stolen vehicle, but the driver did not stop, and another pursuit started. This one continued through Ravennua, into Franklin Township and then entered the City of Kent.
