AKRON , Ohio (WJW) — Akron police officers seized illegal firearms, several pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in cash in four separate traffic stops on Tuesday, Feb. 13, according to a news release.
The traffic stops were part of an ongoing safety initiative in the city, said police Capt. Michael Miller. Four suspects were arrested and charged.

The first traffic stop was just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of East Tallmadge and Home avenues. A 42-year-old stopped for reckless driving got out and ran, but was soon caught, according to the release. Police found two loaded handguns in the car.
Almost two hours later, officers pulled over another 42-year-old driver for a traffic violation near Diagonal Road and Grace Avenue. The driver was “slow to stop” but eventually pulled into a driveway along Wildwood Avenue, about a half-mile after police had turned on their lights and sirens, according to the release.
