Cuyahoga Falls mom: Warning sign that led to baby’s heart transplant

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (WJW) —  This American Heart Month, a Summit County mother is encouraging parents to pay attention to their children’s heart health by sharing the warning sign that led to a heart transplant in their 10-month-old baby, Bella.

“It was around when she was two months old, dad noticed super rapid breathing,” Bella’s Mom, Angela Voisard, said. “They took an image of her heart and told us how enlarged it really was. That’s really when it hit us that we could lose her.”

Voisard said she had a healthy pregnancy and the news of Bella’s serious complications so soon after birth was shocking.

“It was just a day-to-day,” Voisard said. “Is today that day?”

Transported to Cleveland Clinic Children’s, Voisard said she learned Bella would need a heart transplant to survive. Bella was hospitalized in March and received a transplant in September her mother said. Machines kept Bella clinging to life during the agonizing wait Voisard said for a new heart
