Firefighters worked aggressively to extinguish the fire, containing it to the kitchen and attic areas.
WFD estimated the damage to be a total loss.
“It’s a staple around our community here, this restaurant and everybody loved it,” Wooster resident and patron Mike Mullins said. “Just great down-home food at a great price. It’s sad, it’s really sad.”
Fox 8 reached out to the restaurant owner but did not receive a call back.
Many in the area are worried about the staff, who are likely out of work due to the blaze.
“That’s sad, I hate that,” restaurant patron John Kirven said. “You know that’s the first thing that I thought about when I woke up this morning and my wife told me it caught on fire. I said all them waitresses, because the people that work in there, they’re super. They do a heck of a good job, they don’t waste any time getting your food to you. They move fast. It saddens me that they’re not going to be in there for a while.”
