Rite Aid closing all Ohio stores, employees say

Employees at several Toledo Rite Aid locations confirmed that all of the drugstore chain’s Ohio outlets will be closed by the end of next month.

According to employees at multiple locations, all prescriptions maintained by Rite Aid pharmacy will be transferred to the nearest Walgreens. Consumers who prefer not to have their medications dispensed by Walgreens should contact their pharmacy of choice, which will transfer the prescriptions to that store.

Local stores at 3325 Central Ave., 1012 W. Sylvania Ave., 810 E. Manhattan Blvd., 1605 Broadway St., 4869 N. Summit St., and 3013 Monroe St. have been told that their stores will be closing and that employees will receive two weeks’ notice but have not been given a date.

The store at 3362 Navarre Ave. will be closing Wednesday. Employees there stated that they received only 10 days’ notice of the shutdown.

Other Toledo-area stores could not be reached for comment.

Representatives at Rite Aid’s corporate office in Camp Hill, Pa., did not respond to requests for comment.
