Several brands of coffee sold around the country have been recalled due to the risk of a possible “deadly toxin.”
Wisconsin-based Snapchill LLC has issued a voluntary recall of all its canned coffee products after it was determined “their current process could lead to the growth and production of the deadly toxin, botulinum toxin, in low acid canned foods,” according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration .
The recalled products were distributed nationwide to coffee roasters and retail locations and were also sold online through direct purchase from Snapchill. The products include several different roasters and brand names, have any expiration date, range in size from 7 ounce to 12 ounce metal cans, and can be identified from the “Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC” label under the nutrition facts panel. The identifier “Snapchill Coffee” is also listed on the label of some of the affected products.
