Over $15 million in drugs and cash seized in I-70 traffic stops

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – Two drug seizures along Interstate 70 in central Ohio are believed to be among the largest recorded in state history.

Twice in four days, a state drug task force and the Ohio State Highway Patrol teamed up in making two major drug busts.

On Aug. 3, task force agents and troopers stopped a commercial vehicle on I-70 in Madison County and seized 300 pounds of methamphetamine, 17.6 pounds of cocaine and 30 pounds of marijuana. It total, the approximate street value of the drugs totaled $14.6 million.

Authorities pulled over a second commercial vehicle on Aug. 6 along I-70 in Clark County, where more than $935,000 in currency was seized.

The methamphetamine and cash seizures are believed to be among the largest in the state, the Attorney General’s Office said. As a comparison, the drug task forces seized 349 pounds of methamphetamine in 2023.
