Two men die by drowning at Ohio State Park over Labor Day Weekend

Officials in Ohio say two men have died by drowning over Labor Day Weekend.

Two men died at Salt Fork State Park on Sunday.

Officials say they were called to the main beach at 3 pm on Sunday at the park when they received word that a kayaker had gone into the water. Once on scene, it was discovered that two men, ages 53 and 69, left their boats to help save the kayaker.

Officials say the kayaker was saved by Salt Fork State Rangers but the other two men were not located.

Antrim, Old Washington, Liberty, United Ambulance, ODNR personnel, and Guernsey County Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene and then Christian Aid Ministries was called, as well as the Noble County Dive and local divers from Old Washington and Quaker City to be on the scene for a recovery.

Officials say later in the evening sonar units were used to find both bodies.

The names of the individuals have not been released at this time.
