Mount Union outlasts John Carroll in home opener

ALLIANCE, Ohio (WKBN) – The University of Mount Union won the team’s home opener against John Carroll University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game, 37-31, at Kehres Stadium in Alliance on Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders put up 268-yards rushing in the victory with two players surpassing 100-plus rushing yards. Tyler Echeverry rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns off 13 carries. Quarterback Noah Beaudrie also rushed for 93 yards and one TD off 16 carries in the win.

Mount Union held John Carroll to just 77 yards rushing in the victory. The Purple Raiders also recorded three total sacks and six total tackles for loss.

Mount Union advances to an overall record of 2-0 and is currently ranked the No. 4 team in the nation.

The Purple Raiders play next at Baldwin Wallace at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28
