Indictment returned in Akron police officer’s case

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Trumbull County grand jury returned an indictment against an Akron police officer in a child sex abuse material case.

Geoffrey Parker, 34, is charged with five counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, three counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, two counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

He was expected to be arraigned Thursday morning in Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas on the charges.

The Akron Police Department placed Parker on administrative leave in August after he was first charged in the case.

According to a complaint, Parker was accused of engaging in the sharing of sexually explicit videos with minors engaging in sex acts and photographing a child in a state of nudity and then sharing the picture online to receive other explicit images of children. Prosecutors say the victim is 4 years old and that the crimes happened in Weathersfield.
