Person of interest identified in local ATM robbery

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – Police in Akron say they have identified a person of interest in a recent armed robbery .

On Friday, Oct. 4, just before 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in the 500 block of N. Main Street.

The 19-year-old victim told police there was an unknown man in the backseat of his car who had a gun and forced him to drive to a nearby ATM on E. Cuyahoga Falls Ave.

According to police, after the withdrawal, the suspect drove off with the car and left the victim behind.

The car was later recovered in the 400 block of Butler Street.

Wednesday, police released a photo of someone they say is a person of interest in the robbery.

It appears to be taken from a surveillance video from a convenience store.
