North Canton police win statewide contest for photo of cruiser

NORTH CANTON ‒ The city Police Department is one of 11 winners in a statewide photo contest held by Light Ohio Blue, an 8-year-old group that honors law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

The department’s submitted photo of its cruiser in front of City Hall at dusk garnered the most online votes in its category, which covered police departments in cities with populations between 15,000 and 29,000.

Police departments could submit photos of their vehicles in front of an iconic backdrop starting Aug. 11. Anyone online could cast votes for photos from Sept. 11 to Sept. 30.

The department was the only agency in Stark County to be named one of the winners.
