University Heights mayor under fire after controversial political post on Facebook

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – University Heights Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan is under fire following a recent Facebook post where he appeared to single out certain community members and council officials based on their political affiliations.

The post has led to sharp reactions across the city, prompting a heated debate over political discourse in local government.

In his now-deleted post, Brennan seemed to address political divisions by labeling two city council members as “MAGA members.” He urged his followers to “pay close attention to who the Trumpies are in city government.”

This statement was perceived by many as a critique directed at council members based on their political leanings, including Vice Mayor Michelle Weiss, who was one of the officials mentioned.

Weiss expressed her shock at the mayor’s comments.

“I was very taken aback,” she said.

She noted that while she does not believe Brennan intended to incite division, his words have nonetheless affected the community.
