Akron, Canton-Massillon and Toledo rank among nation’s top 20 ‘Hottest Housing Markets’

Looking to buy a home that won’t break the bank? It may be right next door.

The October report from Realtor.com ranking the “Hottest Housing Markets” in the country includes three Ohio communities in the top 20.

Akron came in ninth, Canton-Massillon is 12th and Toledo is 20th. Dayton and Columbus fell out of the top 20 from the previous report.

“Midwest markets, such as the list’s markets in Ohio and Illinois, appeal to today’s buyers because of their affordability in light of today’s still-high home prices and upper 6% mortgage rates,” Hannah Jones, a senior economic research analyst, said in the report.

What’s the average home cost in Ohio?

The report found the average home in Ohio costs $252,000 or less.

The median list price for a home in Akron was $228,000, with properties on the market for 36 days.

The median list price in Canton-Massillon was $252,000, with properties on the market for 33 days.

The median list price in Toledo was $249,000, with properties on the market for 35 days.
