CANTON − The LeVert Experience will headline a benefit concert for WINW Joy 1520 AM Radio at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Cultural Center Theater at 1001 Market Ave. N.
The group features LeVert co-founder Marc Gordon, and fellow Clevelanders Dave Tolliver of the R&B duo Men At Large, and Joe Little, lead singer of the Rude Boys. Also scheduled to perform are gospel vocalist B.J. Pleasant, jazz saxophonist Tyrel Kimbrough, and R&B vocalist Lizzen.
The LeVert Experience was recently formed as a tribute to the late Gerald and Sean Levert, sons of O’Jays lead singer, Eddie Levert Sr., who grew up in Canton.
Gerald Levert, 40, died in 2006. Sean Levert died in 2008 at 39.
Formed in Cleveland in 1983, LeVert produced five No. 1 hit singles and a Top 5 album. They received a Grammy nomination for their hit song, “Cassanova.”
How did The LeVert Experience form?
Tolliver said the idea for The LeVert Experience was born after they performed a tribute of their songs on the Tom Joyner Cruise in May.
