Family’s dog stolen from front porch in broad daylight

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – Garfield Heights police are working to identify and apprehend a suspect who stole a teenage girl’s dog from her family’s front porch on Wednesday.

“It’s just really sad,” 16-year-old Jaleyah Hannah said. “I was literally bawling my eyes out yesterday. Because it’s like; how could somebody just be so cruel just to take a dog off the porch?”

Hannah and her family immediately reported the crime as soon as they noticed that Princess, a 3-year-old golden American pit bull, was taken.

The incident was captured on the family’s home security system.

The footage shows an unknown man getting out of a white sedan, believed to be an Audi with a red interior. The man walks up to the front porch, pets the dog, and then picks her up and puts her in the back seat of the car. He gets in the passenger seat and the car drives away.

“I was really shocked,” Hannah said. “I was really mad because she was like a really precious dog, and we had her since she was a little puppy.”
