Jimmy and Dee Haslam are into real estate using a sports facility to anchor development. Think of a domed stadium and Pinecrest, acting both as an attractor and justification for key government support money. The Haslams’ Brook Park project is based on getting state funds, probably $500 million. The Haslams have contributed millions to various Republican factions to encourage support. Highway work will be necessary, so an “ask” from Washington will follow, and smartly that connection is also well-facilitated. The “ask” for Cuyahoga County and Cleveland funds would be cloaked as “for the Browns,” and everyone will be inclined to support major Lake Erie access and development.
