AKRON , Ohio (WJW) – The reconstruction of Akron’s Central Interchange continues.
This week, those traveling in the area overnight can expect to navigate multiple closures.
According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, closures can be expected Wednesday, Dec. 18 through Friday, Dec. 20 from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Here’s what to expect:
- On Wednesday evening, December 18, at 10 p.m., SR 8 southbound at the Central Interchange will be closed through Thursday morning, December 19, at 5 a.m. The detour will be I-76 east to Arlington St./Kelly Ave. to I-76 west to I-77 south.
- On Wednesday evening, December 18, the ramps from I-76 east and I-76 west to I-77 southbound will be closed through closed through Thursday morning, December 19, at 5 a.m. The detour will be I-76/Kenmore Leg to I-277 east to I-77.
- On Wednesday evening, December 18, at 10 p.m., the ramp from I-76/Kenmore Leg northbound to I-76 east will be closed through Thursday morning, December 19, at 5 a.m. The detour will be I-77 north to V. Odom Blvd., to I-77 south to I-76/Kenmore Leg south to I-277 east to I-77.
