Couple indicted after baby was found bruised and unresponsive

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — Two people have been indicted after a baby investigators say was in their care suffered several injuries and was found unresponsive at a local motel.

Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich’s office announced Wednesday that a grand jury indicted Jason Santos and Jamilee Hunt, both 37, on charges including rape, felonious assault and endangering children.

Hunt also faces an additional charge of endangering children because she has a previous conviction for an offense involving neglect, abandonment, contributing to the delinquency of, or physical abuse of a child.

According to investigators, Springfield Township first responders were sent to the Red Roof Inn on South Arlington Road in Akron Nov. 22 after a 911 call indicated there was an unresponsive infant in one of the rooms.

The baby was revived by first responders but she had multiple fractures on her arms, legs and ribs, bruising all over her body, and additional injuries to her internal organs, according to the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.
