ALLIANCE , Ohio (WJW) — During the holiday season, the goal of the Salvation Army in Alliance is to make sure that no needy child misses out on the joy of the season.
“The need in Alliance is great and it is growing yearly,” Salvation Army Major Tara Harrison told FOX 8 News. “Last year, we did not serve this many children and we will continue to serve as the need continues to rise.”

Thanks to donations of toys, games and money, the Salvation Army has created what amounts to a free toy store at their headquarters in Alliance that allows less fortunate families to pick the items that will bring smiles to the faces of their children.
“We firmly believe that just because the times are hard, doesn’t mean that the people we serve don’t deserve to be able to shop — just because they can’t afford it. And so we set it up just like a store and so the families that come in are able to shop for their children,” said Harrison.
