CANTON, Ohio–The Canton Mckinley boys Bulldog team put another notch in the win column, defeating Gilmour Academy 70-61 in Saturday night cap game of the OHSBCA Shot Clock Shootout.
After winning the tip Mckinley would start slow going down 5 to 0 to a hot starting Gilmour until the dogs settled in playing defense, applying pressure causing multiple turnovers for the Lancers.
For the first quarter, it was multiple players scoring the ball for the pups as they would end the quarter ahead 18-10 getting scores from Davey Thompson, Reed Sims Jr., Ed Webster, Jaylen Jeter and Jayveion Carter to balance out offense attack.
In the second quarter, Gilmour would apply a zone press that caused some problems for Mckinley that would slow down the offense only getting 11 points in the quarter to Gilmour’s 13 ending the half 29-23 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Entering the third quarter the Bulldogs would ramp things up a bit showing a full court press that would cause turnovers to eventual scores, junior Davey Thompson would open up the run by hitting two 3-point shots and following up with an easy 2 point lay in, they never looked back.
