According to FirstEnergy, the storm left 84,000 customers without power—51,000 with Ohio Edison and 33,000 with the Illuminating Company. The high winds toppled trees and downed power lines, causing widespread disruptions, particularly in cities like Parma.
In Parma , the storm caused significant damage. Resident George Durinka recounted the moment his neighborhood lost power.
“Around midnight last night, everything went black,” said Durinka.
Durinka described the relentless gusts that swept through the area, ultimately bringing down a massive tree limb on power lines at West 16th Street.
“Big ol’ tree limb hanging down on the power lines at West 16th Street and all around this corner,” he added.
