The weather outside is about to get frightful.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all Greater Akron starting Friday morning.
Widespread snow showers are expected to arrive Thursday night into Friday morning transitioning to lake-enhanced snow showers and squalls through Sunday.
“Travel could be difficult,” the weather service warns. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.”
Some snowfall totals in parts of Medina, Summit and Portage counties could amount to half a foot or more by time the snow winds down on Sunday, the weather service says.
It will be cold too.
The weekend highs in Greater Akron will be in the 20s.
