Beloit woman has primary role in cancer research fundraiser

BELOIT, Ohio (WKBN) – WKBN 27 First News told you Thursday about the recruiting of shavees for this year’s St. Baldrick’s fundraiser , and now we are learning that a West Branch graduate has a primary role with the organization this year.

Morgan Loudon is an ambassador to spread the message of funding cancer research. The 20-year-old is on a mission to make a difference because she knows kids deserve long and healthy lives.

Morgan knows about childhood cancer. She was diagnosed with a soft tissue cancer (rhabdoid tumor) above her kidney at 8 years old.

“Pretty much the only thing that I knew about cancer was like those Saint Jude’s commercials that you would see on TV. So the 1st thing I asked was, Am I going to lose my hair? You know, when you’re 8? That’s kind of like a big thing to you wash your hair,” Loudon said.

She did lose her hair while enduring 10 rounds of chemotherapy and a month of radiation. It was a tough fight, but Morgan has celebrated being cancer-free for eleven years.
